Back to school — and back to basics on what our kids need most.
Steve Lindell welcomes Tami Silverman, President and CEO of the Indiana Youth Institute, for her first appearance on Delaware County Today — and hopefully not her last!
Who supports the people who support our kids? IYI does.
Tami gives a wide-ranging overview on:
The impact of chronic absenteeism
A new diploma seal offering automatic admission to Indiana public colleges
Expanding access to paid internships and military pathways
Financial aid flexibility for returning students
A statewide focus on early-grade math skills coming next year
Plus: She and Steve trade stories of their worst early jobs — rock-picking in Minnesota and taming toddlers in preschool.

Stroke Awareness and Support in Muncie — On Delaware County Today with Steve Lindell, we shine a light on stroke recovery and community care. Shelby Fritz, Speech Pathologist at IU Health Ball Memorial, and Lisa Hayes, Stroke Program Coordinator, explain the signs of a stroke using the FAST method and discuss how every second counts in treatment. They also announce the return of the “C’s” Stroke Support Group — Supporting Each Other After Stroke — which begins September 9 at 3 p.m. and continues every second Tuesday at IU Health’s Orthopedic Center on West North Street in Muncie. Open to survivors, families, and caregivers alike.
Hear how this compassionate team helps patients through the hardest moments — and how you or a loved one can find connection, understanding, and support.

“Every strong community has a strong press. That’s what we’re trying to do with WMUN. It’s a place for people to understand what’s taking place in the community. It’s a place for leaders in the community to talk about things. It’s a place for different voices in the community to bring up questions or concerns. That is something that’s been missing for some time,” J. Chapman.
