Come on Over Heather Williams Part 2! 6/14/25
In this reflective and neighborly conversation, Heather Williams joins Pat Smith to explore what truly makes a neighborhood a neighborhood. Heather shares her personal experiences living in a near-campus neighborhood—celebrating the joys of constant change, new faces, and unexpected connections with student neighbors. She acknowledges both the fun and the frustrations that come with sharing space and culture, finding growth and relationship-building even in the more difficult moments.
Heather also offers a deeper dive into her professional and volunteer roles. In addition to her work at Ball State, she serves as the President of the Riverside Neighborhood Association, chairs the Muncie Action Plan’s board of directors, and co-leads the city’s neighborhood task force. Her perspective highlights the importance of defining neighborhoods not just by geography but also by shared experience, culture, and community-building energy.
